New FREE NHS Services
What is Pharmacy First?
Pharmacy First is a service that allows you to get advice and treatment from a pharmacist for minor ailments, without needing to see a GP or visit a hospital. The service aims to make the best use of pharmacists’ skills and reduce pressure on other parts of the health system.
Who can use Pharmacy First?
You do not need a prescription or an appointment to access the service. You can visit Charlton Pharmacy and have a consultation with a Pharmacist in a private consultation room.
How does Pharmacy First work?
If you have a minor ailment, you can visit Charlton Pharmacy and ask for a consultation. You will need to provide your name, date of birth and NHS number. The pharmacist will ask you some questions about your symptoms, medical history and any other medicines you are taking.
They will then assess your condition and advise you on the best course of action. This may include:
Giving you self-care advice and tips on how to manage your condition at home supplying you with a medicine that can treat your condition, free of charge if you are eligible for free prescriptions
Referring you to another health service, such as your GP, a nurse or a specialist, if your condition is more serious or needs further investigation
